Your Network May Be One of Your Most Valuable Real Estate Assets
Owning a business teaches you something quickly: you cannot build everything alone.
You need relationships.
You need people you trust.
You need someone you can call when you don’t know the answer.
And sometimes, the person who changes the direction of your business isn’t someone you went looking for. It’s someone already in your network who makes the right introduction at the right time.
I’m Jaime Hechtman-Ulloa with Patriot Real Properties, and that’s one of the reasons I’ve always believed so strongly in being a connector.
Real estate works the same way.
If You Own a Business, Your Real Estate Decisions Matter
Business owners spend enormous amounts of time thinking about customers, employees, revenue and growth.
Real estate can get pushed to the side.
But where you operate, what you own, what you rent and how you use property can eventually become important parts of your overall business strategy.
Maybe you’re renting space and wondering whether ownership should eventually be the goal.
Maybe you’ve built your primary business and want to understand investment properties.
Maybe you already own a building and haven’t really thought about the property separately from the business operating inside it.
Or maybe you’re doing well professionally and wondering what the next stage of wealth-building could look like.
Those aren’t questions that always have immediate answers.
They’re conversations worth starting.
Your Business Network Can Become Your Real Estate Network
When someone tells me they’re thinking about buying, selling or investing, my job isn’t to pretend I personally have every answer.
A good network matters.
Real estate transactions can involve attorneys, lenders, title professionals, inspectors, contractors, accountants, insurance professionals and others depending on the situation.
For an investor or business owner, that circle can become even larger.
That’s why I value relationships so much.
A real estate agent who knows people….but more importantly, knows who to call for what—can be a valuable resource.
Being a connector isn’t about collecting business cards.
It’s understanding people’s strengths well enough to know when two people should meet.
Don’t Let Social Media Be Your Entire Market Report
I also spend a lot of time following what’s happening in real estate.
And there’s an important distinction between information and noise.
One headline says the market is crashing.
Another says prices will never come down.
Someone posts that interest rates changed.
Someone else says it’s the perfect time to buy.
Those statements don’t tell you much about your decision.
What’s happening with inventory where you’re looking?
What are comparable properties actually doing?
What are buyers responding to?
What is changing in the industry?
What new rules, programs or economic developments deserve attention?
That’s the information I enjoy finding and sharing.
Sometimes it’s serious market information.
Sometimes it’s a useful statistic.
Sometimes it’s simply a real estate fact that makes you look at something differently.
The goal is the same: understand what’s happening instead of reacting to a headline.
Investment Property Doesn’t Have to Start With a Portfolio
Business owners often understand investment concepts better than they realize.
You already think about revenue.
You understand expenses.
You know that gross income isn’t the same as profit.
You understand that an asset can require money before it produces money.
Those concepts translate naturally into analyzing investment real estate.
What is the potential rent?
What are the taxes?
Insurance?
Maintenance?
Financing?
Vacancy assumptions?
Repairs?
What happens if the numbers change?
The first step toward becoming a real estate investor doesn’t have to be purchasing a building tomorrow.
It can simply be learning how to evaluate one.
También Podemos Tener Esta Conversación en Español
Real estate and business conversations can become complicated quickly.
For clients who prefer discussing the process in Spanish, I’m able to communicate in both English and Spanish.
That allows us to slow the conversation down, ask questions and make sure we’re discussing what actually matters to the client.
Whether someone is considering their first property, another investment or a move connected to their business, understanding the process matters.
Why Patriot Fits the Way I Work
One reason Patriot Real Properties fits me is that we’re building relationships beyond the traditional brokerage model.
We’re bringing agents together with investors and business professionals.
We’re holding classes.
We’re discussing what’s happening in the industry.
We’re creating networking opportunities.
We’re encouraging our agents to develop knowledge they can actually bring back to clients.
And we’re building a culture where making an introduction is viewed as valuable.
That’s how I see real estate.
Sometimes I may have the answer.
Sometimes I know the person who does.
Both matter.
